PMDX-107 and Huanyang SL-240EE VFD
« on: December 10, 2014, 07:47:18 PM »
I picked up a 4.0KW Spindle and matching VFD (SL-240EE) for a CNCRouterParts 4896 that I've built. My problem might be a simple one for some of you, so here it is. The SL-240EE does NOT have the same connections as it's 2KW counterparts, so I can't seem to find any wiring examples to get it connected with the PMDX-107.

Hi Todd,

All things considered, this VFD seems to be one of the more difficult
to get the manual, and to understand the manual. The drawing in
Figure 4-11 shows conflicting information regarding how X1 to X6
operate. I have decided to trust the text in the manual rather than
this drawing since the text is less ambiguous.

You can download the manual here:  http://www.hy-dq.cn/download3.htm

You will need to alter the P0.01 and P0.02 parameters. They default to 0 for
front panel control. For control from the screw terminals both of these
parameters need to be set to 1.

You will also need to alter other settings if you are trying to run a 400 Hz
high speed router spindle. You can save this step until after you get
basic operation working.

The connections for this VFD and a PMDX-107 are as follows:

VFD       PMDX-107

+24          COM
X1            FWD/RUN    (for the default P3.01 setting of 1 for forward operation)
X2            REV/DIR      (P3.02 setting must be changed to 2 to allow reverse command)

+10V        Aref
AI1           Aout           (for a setting of 1 in P0.01 for analog input on AI1)
GND         Agnd

All DIP switches on the PMDX-107 should be in the off position assuming that
you have set up a "charge pump". If you do not plan to use a "charge pump",
turn ON the DIP switch labeled Config 4.

We highly recommend that you get the spindle to run using the Calibrate
test button on the PMDX-107 before moving on to configuring your Mach
software. This will confirm that the PMDX-107 and the VFD are working
with each other without the complications of software settings being
involved.

Sorry, it has been a while, had to rebuild the workshop.  I tried the posted setup and it doesn't seem to work.

I have the spindle/vfd working at 24000rpm/400Hz with no problem, but not when I change P0.01 and P0.02 to 1.

I will take some pictures of it shortly as well.

Any thoughts?

...Todd.

Todd,

Have not heard from you for a while. Did you solve your problems?

Can you you change just the P0.2 parameter and get the LED to
flicker as described in the VFD manual? If so, can you start and
stop the VFD using the external interface?
