Planning cnc plasma controller?
« on: April 13, 2017, 11:46:35 PM »
Good evening,
I am planning to build a cnc plasma table and am working on the motor and control end first? I am new to stepper technology but understand the basic idea of steps and the like. I am going to be using Mach 4 to run the stepper system.
Here is where I need help. I am going to using a PMDX - 424 (24 volt powered version) to drive the motors. So I go from a PC to PMDX 424 via USB cable, 24 volt power supply to power PDMX - 424, and stepper motors out of PMDX board, is this correct? In other words the PMDX-424 provides stepping, voltage, rotation to my 3 steppers on an X Y Z axis table? No individual motor steppers needed?

Thanks!

The PMDX-424 is "brains" only. You need separate stepper drivers for the motors.

Currently we do not offer a THC (plasma torch height controller) in our SmartBOB family.

We do have a couple of customers using the Proma SD torch controller with a PMDX-424.
