Rectangular Normally-Open NPN-style Proximity Sensor

This is an inductive proximity sensor switch that senses metal (both ferrous and non-ferrous) objects.

The normally open NPN output allows multiple sensors to be paralleled into one PMDX input.

The output is "open collector" and pulls the signal to ground when active.

Response time 2 milliSeconds after stimulus change.

Requires 10 to 30 VDC at 8 milli-Amperes for operation. Works well with the +12 unregulated supplied by the the PMDX-126 (or older PMDX-125).

The body of the sensor is 18 mm wide, 34 mm long and 18 mm thick with two slots for screwing to a flat surface.

Connections are provided by a 2 meter (6 foot) long cable that is permanently attached.

The sensor has an on-board indicator LED to show when it is active.

Sensing distance is approximately 4 mm for steel or iron and approximately 2 mm for aluminum.

Hysteresis is approximately 10% of  sensing distance.
