Sorry to be late with this reply. I was away at the Cabin Fever Expo
show running a PMDX booth there, and I am still catching up with
things upon my return.
This looks like one of the newer low cost Chinese VFD units. I have
not found clear descriptions of how their control interfaces work, so
we have to make some assumptions.
I looks like the VFD will accept analog 5 volts, analog 10 volts, or
current loop control. The 5 volt input may work, but will be less
precise than the 10 volt input, therefore I will describe 10 volt
operation.
Aref from 12VOUT on VFD
It is OK to put 12 volts on the 407 and even on the
10VIN of the VFD, but we suggest adjusting the pot
on the 407 so that the maximum output is 10 volts
so the the speed is more accurately calibrated.
Aout to 10VIN on VFD
Agnd to GND on VFD, there will multiple connections to GND on the VFD
RUN to FWD on VFD
COM to GND on VFD
It is also possible to control direction by passing the RUN signal through
a relay if you have a SmartBOB that has the relay. The RUN signal would
go to the COM of the Relay. The N/C of the relay would connect to the
FWD on the VFD. The N/O of the relay would connect to the REV on the VFD.
You must also configure the Reverse signal in Mach4 to control the relay.
