Title: Mount the PMDX-107 with ribbon cable and not to board?
Post by: OldePhart on December 26, 2018, 03:02:25 PM
Can the -107 be mounted with a ribbon cable instead of to the board? It has an uncomfortable twist in it when I use the screw and I would prefer to mount it on the same plane as the ESS and the -126 anyway.

It should be possible, *IF* you can find/make a ribbon cable with a socket on one end and header on the other.  This is not a typical ribbon cable.  I would also keep the cable as short as possible - less chance for electrical noise to couple onto the cable.

I ordered (but have not yet tested) the following cable from ebay:

The other point made about cable length is a good one: Short as possible. This assembly may not work but I wont know until I have tried it out.
