PMDX 424 and outputs
« on: July 14, 2016, 11:52:50 AM »
I've gotten my 424 working with my servos and such and am in the process of getting outputs working.  Specifically trying to get a pneumatic switch for my coolant functional but it requires 12v and the outputs are all 5v.  What device would take the 5v outputs from the 424 and send the 12v to the switch (I've also got a power switch for the mill itself so I can turn the thing on and it's 12v as well.

I would recommend using the PMDX-104 (http://www.pmdx.com/pmdx-104).  This is a 4-channel relay board that can switch up to 5 amps per relay.

There is also our PMDX-105 (http://www.pmdx.com/pmdx-105), which is a 4-channel optical isolator/translator board that can switch up to 150mA per output.  This would require you to add external "catch" diodes across your pneumatic switches, unless the switches have these diodes built-in to them.

Got the 105 hooked up and it works like a champ (and I was lucky and no diode needed with my air solenoid).  Nice little board and now I get to figure out how to stuff all of it into the controller box I have.
