PMDX-424 Power Not Coming On
« on: February 18, 2017, 02:35:13 PM »
Hi,

I have my PMDX-424 hooked up to a power supply to J19 terminal but the lights do not come on.  This is first time I am trying to hook up my PMDX-424 as I just go it.  I am trying to go step-by-step.  My power supply is working and my connections are good.  I tested my power supply and it is working.  I have attached a picture of the wiring setup and my power supply.  Can anyone please help.  Thank you in advance.

Rick

Your picture shows that you have the wires in the correct place, BUT,
the version of the PMDX-424 that you purchased is designed to be
powered directly from the AC mains. You should connect 120 VAC,
or actually any AC voltage between 100 VAC  to 250 VAC to those
terminals. The safety ground from the mains does not connect to
the PMDX-424 since it is fully isolated and does not have a metal
enclosure.

It appears that the voltage that you connected is only 60 VDC, so
you have not harmed the unit.

Thanks Steve.  I am little inexperienced when it comes to electronics, but when you say " designed to be powered directly from the AC mains. You should connect 120 VAC,
or actually any AC voltage between 100 VAC  to 250 VAC to those terminals." that means just hook this directly to a computer cable and plug directly into the wall outlet using the black and white wires and leave the green (ground) not hooked up to anything.  I took a picture just so I am sure I am supposed to plus this directly into my 110 outlet without anything in between.  Is that correct.  Sorry if this seems so elementary.

I have not yet plugged this in as I want to confirm so I don't blow the board in case that is not what you were saying.  Thanks.

The wiring you show in your latest picture is correct.

I would possibly recommend that the ground from that cord be
connected to your control enclosure if it is metal.
