Problem with the y axes motor 3 A and B
« on: January 28, 2017, 02:29:15 PM »
I am hoping someone could advise me on a problem in mach4 using PMDX 424 board. (I had a hard time getting Mach 4 to see the 424 board). This is the first time I powered up my control panel. I can only move the Y axis forward and back if the jog Y+ or Y- button is held down. Once you release the + or - button, i have to hit the Disable button - then hit the enable button for either button to work again. My X axis and Z axis are fine.  The only time i can Jog my Y axis without resetting the enable button is if the Incremental Jog step button is on. Then I can move the Y to the + or - without resetting the enable button. I double checked my wiring. Mach 4 is not showing any errors. Mapping on the motors are correct. I have not activated any stops yet, I'm only jogging the machine. So why just on the Y axis do I have to reset the disable or enable button to get it to move again?
Thank you
Mike

I have not heard of symptoms like yours before and don't have any immediate ideas.

Please send us a packaged profile so we can have a detailed look at your configuration.

Hello Michael,

You have software slaving configured in your profile, but are trying
to use the PMDX hardware slaving. You have asked the software
to create a Motor4 which does not exist and it hangs because no
one responds to the request to move Motor4. The PMDX motors
are 3A and 3B, but Mach4 only sees them as a single Motor 3.

Please go to:

Configure > Mach > Axis Mapping

... and remove the entry (must be blank) under the Slave1 column for
the Y axis, then shutdown Mach4 and restart.

This should fix your problem. If you only had 3 axes you could use
software slave generation, but when you want 4 real axes and one
of them has two motors, you must use the PMDX hardware slaving.

Your configuration also has the Simulator plugin enabled and this
may cause other problems. Only one boss at a time.  8-)

Please go to:

Configure > Mach > Plugins (tab)

... and uncheck the Simulator plugin, then shutdown Mach4 and restart.

Let me know if your problems are solved.
