General Discussion / Quick Fusing a 424

I'm new to CNC and this forum.   I am looking at buying a 424 controller to run an old Accu cut Router I just purchased.   Based on the information I found it can be supplied with normal 110 v AC.   
When hooking into the terminals is anyone putting in some safety measures?   I was thinking about adding a quick fuse in case of a power surge.
What size fuse should I use or does anyone have a better idea.
