PMDX-126 version C2, switched from J15 to J16
« on: July 10, 2017, 03:23:56 PM »
I am trying clean up my control box. In doing so, I thought it would be nice to switch from a DB25 to a ribbon cable.

I swapped out the cables(J15 -> J16), but Mach3 is unable to connect...the reset button in Mach3 is not resetting...

I am using a warp9 ESS via ethernet with external 5V supply if that makes a difference.

Is there a jumper or a setting somewhere that I am not aware of?

Thank you,
Ben

The J15 and J16 ports function identically. If you had it working
with the DB-25, then no changes other than the cable are required
to move to the ribbon header.

Please check that you do not have one end of the ribbon cable plugged
in backwards at either the PMDX-126 or the SmoothStepper. On the
PMDX-126 pin 1 of the ribbon cable goes to the end nearest the
J16 legend on the board. For the ESS you can see the orientation
in this diagram:

Hmmm,

So I simply swapped out the ribbon cable and all is well.

It is hard to imagine that I would have reversed the cable somehow, but oh well, it is back in business.

Thank you,
Ben
